Do you carry out Risk Assessments?
No, we are a specialist maintenance service company and therefore do not carry our Risk Assessments. We have made a policy decision not to get involved with this type of work as we feel there would be a conflict of interest here if we were, for example recommending additions to a fire alarm system. We recommend using a company that specialises in this work by doing a Google search in your area. We have two good guides that you may find helpful for this which you can download opposite -
Do you cover Addressable as well as Conventional fire alarms?
Yes we do, but some manufactures and installers of addressable fire alarm systems do not release the necessary codes to access their systems. This will mean that the customer could be tied into that installer or manufacturer for the lifetime of the system! As an independent company, Southern Care Maintenance always install "open protocol" addressable systems, and recommend that customers do the same when choosing their installer or specifying so they may have a choice of their maintenance company.
Do you cover burglar alarms?
No, we specialise in safety and communication systems only, not Intruder Alarms or security.
Do you carry out Fire Training?
We generally only do this for local customers who have a maintenance contract with us.
How long will it take to get an engineer out to me?
All faults and breakdowns reported are dealt with on a priority basis, and a customer with a complete system failure would always come first. Having said that, if you ring us to report a fault before lunch time we will always try to get an engineer to you the same day, once you have a service contract with us.
Will you really come out to us in the middle of the night?
Yes we will! and respond to many such calls every week - You will also be able to talk to a qualified engineer directly, as he may be able to solve the problem quickly over the phone. You will enjoy real 24 hour cover with only one number to call. This service is provided only for Emergency products, such as Fire alarm & Nurse call systems once you have a maintenance service contact.
Do you cover systems that you did not install?
Yes, all the time because we always carry out a site survey FOC before taking a systems under a service maintenance contract.
An Estimate or a Quotation?
Our estimates cover the work and supplying the equipment as listed. If something is not needed or additions become necessary during the works this will be discussed at the time along with any increase or decrease in the estimate price. However all our Maintenance contract prices are quotations.
Do you provide out of hours cover for the Nursing equipment division?
Not at the moment as there has so far been no demand for this service but we may do if this changes.
Do you service Lifts?
No sorry, we do not have a Lift Service division at the moment, but watch this space & keep in touch.
Do you Service wheel chairs?
Yes & No! - We can service manual ones, but if you have other types, drop an email to us from our Contact Us page or Live Chat we will refer you to a company that should be able to help you, depending on where you are based.
Do you Service scales?

What Nurse call systems can you cover?
As an independent company we cover most of the common makes, and some very uncommon old systems too!
Do you supply signs?
We used to do this many moons ago but not now as these are readily available on the Internet.
Do you service Sluices?
Not at the moment as there has been little customer demand for this service and it is another specialist trade. If this changes we would naturally review the situation.
Can I really speak to an engineer after 5pm or at the weekends, 24 hours a day?
Yes! - you can for the alarms division, so long as you have a current maintenance contract with us.
Many Emergency call-outs to site are avoided this way, as we make no charge for talking & this can save you money.
