29/1/2019 0 Comments Nominated Charity 2019Every year we choose to support one of our local charitable customers and this year we have decided to support Demelza Hospice Care for Children. This follows the donations our team raised for them over the Christmas period by opting to donate to the charity what they would normally spend on Christmas cards. Demelza Hospice Care for Children provides specialist care and emotional support for seriously ill children, young people and their families across East Sussex, Kent and South East London. Over the course of a year the charity help around 750 families and because of the donations they receive, are able to provide much needed support and care to those in need so they can live a full life, with the ones they love, for as long as they can. If you would like to find out more about Demelza or would like to make a donation, please visit their website www.demelza.org.uk or go to our Facebook page where you can donate direct.

7/12/2018 0 Comments Supporting Demelza HospiceThis festive season we will be donating the money we would normally spend on exchanging Christmas cards with our fellow colleagues to one of our local charitable customers. We are proudly supporting Demelza Hospice Care for Children, a charity which provides much needed specialist care and emotional support for children with terminal conditions and their loved ones. Every penny raised really does make a difference and enables Demelza to create precious memories for seriously ill children and their families. For more information about the wonderful work of Demelza and to find out how you can help make a difference, please check out their website: www.demelza.org.uk or go to our Facebook page where you can donate direct. 18/6/2018 0 Comments We are getting there...Cables and things every where, but phase one is nearly complete and we can now see an end to the works. We knocked through last week when the dividing wall into the extension came down and we are now just waiting on the floor coverings, electrics and the final decorating to be completed.
Although SCM has been trading for many years now, we have recently enjoyed a growth spurt. As demand for our services and products has increased, the number of team members has also grown to keep up with this increasing workload. Organising and keeping track of tasks and projects between teams has become increasingly difficult. We started to use Basecamp a few months ago and it has provided a good solution to this problem and we are now using it as our main company communication tool. This has provided greater transparency within the company and clarity within our teams as to who is responsible for different tasks. It provides messaging across the company, reducing internal emails to a minimum as well as a central place to hold information and documents that different teams need to work on. As well as working in a web browser, apps are available for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android devices so our mobile users are always kept up to date with office news and new projects. It is also simple to start using and the occasional time we have required support the response has been fast.
So theres the answer, we feel we are all better connected and the whole team can see the big picture and can easily pitch ideas in for consideration. We all spend less time on internal emails to each other, less time in meetings and have more time for our customers; just wish I had thought of it first! 24/4/2018 0 Comments We're getting bigger! We are all looking forward to the extra space that phase one of the office extension will give when it is finished. This will provide more desk space for admin and accounts departments and should be completed by early summer. We then have plans for phase two to start which will include more room for our technical services and engineering department and hoping to have this completed before Christmas...2018.
So, if you hear some strange noises when calling us, you now know why! 10/4/2018 0 Comments Updating the FleetThis month a few of our engineers had their vans replaced with new 2018 Citroen Berlingos. These were replacing the 3/4 year old Ford transits which had each clocked up approx 80,000 miles over that time. The new ones came with all the mod cons including sat nav and air conditioning needed to keep our engineers cool and on track!
