The time has now come to close our Just Giving page but, before we do, we would like to take this opportunity to offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported our SCM Team Buzz Cut event and donated to Breast Cancer Now.
Back in October when our chaps put themselves forward for a "close shave" and our ladies sported some unusual hair-dos, never did we imagine that funds would be raised at just over £1,000! Every penny really does count and the money that has been raised will make a difference - £1,000 alone could pay for four days of research, research being the key to creating a future where everyone with breast cancer lives and lives well.

We are pleased to announce that our nominated charitable customer for 2022 is Aspens.
Throughout the south east of England, Aspens provides high quality care and support to children, young people and adults on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities; meeting their needs and aspirations and empowering them to learn and grow through an integrated network of services.
Aspens believes that everyone deserves to live their life to its full potential and strive to achieve this for those they support through the services they offer, which include residential care, supported living, community outreach, specialist family support, an advice chatline and a wide range of activities at their day care centres such as art, IT, sports, horticulture and employment skills.

This October the engineers of SCM will be saying goodbye to their luscious locks, or in some cases their usual bad hair days (!), in favour of a buzz cut in aid of Breast Cancer Now, a charity that is very close to the heart of many.
Never more so now than for everyone on the SCM team following a colleague’s recent diagnosis. The strength, courage and never failing cheerful persona of our colleague who shows such positivity and grit during their on-going treatment has inspired the team to show their support and do what they can to raise money and awareness for a charity that is the UK’s largest comprehensive breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now.
What about the ladies you say!? Well, whilst it is only the chaps getting a close shave, the ladies on the team will be showing their support on the day with some unusual hair-dos that are bound to raise an eye brow or two!

During the COVID pandemic, Southern Care Maintenance has been working hard to maintain services to all our customers during what has been an exceptionally difficult time.
The health, safety and wellbeing of all our employees and customers is of paramount importance and we have implemented measures to ensure everyone's safety. All engineers have been equipped with the necessary PPE and sanitiser and some have already received vaccinations.
We are providing the best service we can given the circumstances and the situation is changing on a daily basis, with customers having to cancel visits at the last minute due to COVID cases. We are continuously monitoring the situation and dealing with sites on a case by case basis.
Thanks to the hard work and flexibility of staff, we are proud to have maintained all our staffing levels.
We are slowly returning to "normal' working as customers are now allowing us access to their premises and thank you to everyone for your patience during this difficult time.
Only a few of our staff are now furloughed, and we are experiencing strong demand for our services so please continue to use email or our Contact Us page as the best way of communication for routine enquiries.

Southern Care Maintenance has been providing 24 hours Peace of Mind service for our contract customers for the last 30 years. However, in order to comply with the Government's latest rules announced on 23 March 2020 we are no longer able to continue offering our full range of services.
James Brokenshire (Minister of State for Security at the Home Office) has extended the Key Worker status to all fire safety personnel actively working in fire safety. Ian Moore, CEO of the Fire Industry Association has said, "Fire Engineers carry out a mission-critical job to not only fix but maintain fire systems and products such as extinguishers, fire alarms systems etc. We have real first-hand knowledge and evidence of the dangerous and potentially deadly effects that a lack of maintenance on fire systems can lead to...".
We have therefore decided to only provide essential call-outs in the Alarms Division and all services in the Nursing Equipment Division are being suspended from 1 April 2020.
Our engineers have been instructed to follow the COVID-19 precautions from the Government and NHS and have the necessary PPE equipment to do this.
We will try to provide some support by email to any messages received through our website - southerncare.co.uk and will review the situation weekly as this is a fast changing situation and full services will be resumed immediately Government's rules have changed.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused but hope you understand this is the right thing to do in the current situation in order to help protect our staff, our customers and the NHS.
